Description
Welcome to the 15th Annual Newtown Turkey Trot to benefit the C. H. Booth Library. Our event offers the opportunity to kick off your Thanksgiving Day celebrations by participating in a 5K run / walk or 2.5K (1.6 mile) fitness walk. This community event has annually attracted over 1500 participants in recent years and will start and finish from Newtown Middle School (11 Queen Street, Newtown) following the routes introduced in 2019.
Event Schedule
- Race Packet Pickup
- Race check-in, bib and t-shirt collection at C. H. Booth Library on Tuesday 11/26 between 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM and Wednesday 11/27 between 10:00AM and 2:00PM.
- Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate to Faith Food Pantry and help families in need this holiday season
- Race check-in and bib pickup (but not t-shirt collection) will be available between 6:30 AM and 7:15 AM on the morning of the race.
- Note: You must collect your race packet containing your race bib before the race begins.
- Race Start - 7:45 am at Newtown Middle School.
- At this time we plan for there to be a post race awards ceremony where overall and age-group winners collect prizes.
- Awards will be available after the race near the finish area. If not collected, they will be made available for collection from the library at a later date or mailed. Results will be streamed during the event to this web site.
Race Entry
- Race entry is by advance online registration. Online registration will be available up to race day. Registration must be complete by 7:00AM on race day.
Entry Fees
Individual entry:
- $25 before 9/2
- $35 from 9/3 - 9/30
- $40 from 10/1 - 10/31 (3.40 fee per registrant or less if extra discounts applied)
- $45 from 11/1 - 11/20
- $50 from 11/21 - 11/28
- All prices will have additional processing fees due to transparency laws in CT
Groups of 4:
- $80 before 9/2
- $120 from 9/3 - 9/30
- $140 from 10/1 - 10/31
- $160 from 11/1 - 11/20
- $180 from 11/21 - 11/28
- All prices will have additional processing fees due transparency laws in CT (3.40 per registrant or less if multi person discounts applied )
Shirt Availability
- Participants registered prior to 11/01 at midnight shall receive a 50/50 cotton blend race t-shirt if they choose. Participants may purchase a additional moisture wicking technical long-sleeve t-shirt during registration. Participants must register by November 5th in order to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

- Top 3 overall in each group
- First of each age and gender in all groups

Pet Policy
No dogs or other animals are permitted to participate in this event in the interest of for both racer and pet safety.
Our Mission
The Newtown Turkey Trot provides essential funds to maintain the library and provide programming initiatives. Funds raised from your participation will support the C.H. Booth Library’s mission to promote the joy of lifelong learning, stimulate curiosity, support the exchange of ideas, and provide a welcoming gathering place.
The Turkey Trot has grown over the years to become a popular holiday tradition for our community. It presents an opportunity for family and friends to share a common experience while supporting a vital community resource. Your support and involvement with this year’s event sends a message that the library matters to our community.
Course Description
Both the 5K and Walk start and end at Newtown Middle School. The 5K route follows a USTF certified route (CT19019JHP), while the walk uses a shorter segment of the same route.
